Online Classes

To participate in online classes your PC/Mac/iPad/iPhone must have the Zoom video conferencing software installed.  For instructions on how to install and connect via Zoom, select from the options below.

Step 1

Open up your browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox) and goto the website http://www.zoom.us/download.

Step 2

Click on the blue Download button under Zoom Client for Meetings.
If you are asked if you want to run or save ZoomInstaller.exe , then click the Run button.

At this point, you can opt to join an existing meeting or to sign in. You do not have to have a Zoom account if you are not going to be hosting your own meetings. As a participant, you can just join an existing meeting.

Click the Join a Meeting button.

Step 4

Enter the 10 digit meeting ID that has been supplied to you. Zoom uses these IDs to identify which meeting you wish to join. The ID is like a phone number for your meeting.

Step 5

Also, enter your name in the field provided. This name will be visible to your host (Paul) and the other participants. When done, tap the Join button.

You will be presented with a video preview where you should be seeing your own image.

Step 7

Tap the Join with Video button.

You will be required to enter the meeting password. This password will be provided by Paul before the meeting. The password is necessary to make sure only those people who are Paul's students can join the meeting. So, enter the password and tap Continue.

In the center of the screen you will see the host while in the top will be what your camera and host sees.

On the main meeting screen you will find a number of useful items.

- Mute/Unmute button. To avoid unnecessary sound being broadcast to the other participants, make sure you only unmute your microphone while talking and mute it rest of the time.

- Stop Video button toggles whether the other people on the meeting can see video/images coming from you. You will still be able to hear while your video is off.

- Share content. Use this to share a photo or other content from your phone and present it to the meeting. Tap this button again to stop sharing.

- Reactions allow you to send a thumbs-up to the meeting

- Red Leave button to exit the meeting

Step 1

Open up Safari and goto the website http://www.zoom.us/download.

Step 2

Click on the blue Download button under Zoom Client for Meetings.
If you are asked if you want to allow downloads form zoom.us, then click the Allow button.

The Zoom installation program will now download.  You can track the progress in the top right hand corner of Safari.

Once it has completed downloading, the icon will turn into a grey down-arrow.

Step 4

Click the grey down-arrow and double-click the Zoom.pkg file.

If a window appears with the message "Zoom.pkg" can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store then please follow the instructions found here before trying to double click Zoom.pkg again.

When Zoom.pkg opens, follow the instructions by clicking the Continue button.

Once the installation is complete, the main Zoom window will appear.

iPad & iPhone iOS

Step 1

Open the App Store.

In the search bog type Zoom.

Find the ZOOM Cloud Meetings app.  It may not be the first item in the list and you may have to scroll down.

Tap on GET and download the app.  Once downloaded you should see the blue icon on your phone.

Double tap the app icon and you will be presented with the Start Meeting page.

Tap the blue Join a Meeting button.

Your phone will ask you for access to the Microphone. Tap OK.

To hear what other people in the meeting are saying, you will need to tap on the Call using Internet Audio when prompted.

In the center of the screen you will see the host while in the top right corner will be what your camera and host sees.

On the main meeting screen you will find a number of useful items.  If the top and bottom menus become hidden, tap the screen to bring them back up.

On the top row (left to right)

- Speaker on/off button (turn speaker off if you don't want to hear other people)

- Camera rotate button (rotate camera to use camera on the back of phone, tap again to use the camera on the front - use this to alternate between showing the host your own image or that of your work)

- The meeting ID and the password

- Red Leave button to exit the meeting

On the bottom row (left to right)

- Mute/Unmute button.  To avoid unnecessary sound being broadcast to the other participants, make sure you only unmute your phone while talking and mute it rest of the time.

- Stop Video button toggles whether the other people on the meeting can see video/images coming from you.  You will still be able to hear while your video is off.

- Participants shows you a lift of all the meeting participants.
